ABO Review : Lingaa

Note : Review of Telugu Dubbed Version.

Lingaa is an Average Drama sans any kick. A Rajini`s one-man show, its concept is more good than its execution.

Story :

Linga ( Rajinikanth ) is a petty thief and the Grandson of .`Raja Lingeswaran`, a Maharaja, who in his times is a very generous Man. He helps building a Big Dam to save drought hit Villages from Starvation and suicides. Cut to the Present, The very same Dam is now in trouble due to a corrupt Politician ( Jagapathi ). Lingaa coming to know of his Grandfather`s Legacy and also he himself helping the village forms the rest.

Analysis :

The film is a slightly fun-filled but emotional drama. The film is too long and slow at times. Both 1st half & 2nd half are average but climax could have been better. Director KSR choose to use Rajini with an emotional touch thus limiting scope of any killer scenes or power packed episodes. The film still has a few scenes where we witness vintage Rajini though. It is an average drama and has nothing much to offer other than Rajini & Grandeur. Lingaa, is high on emotion and average on comedy and a bit poor on action front. Clearly, Graphics haven`t been up-to mark especially in Climax. And Music is a let down too. The film can still be watched for Rajini and not at all a bad film even though a lengthy one. You may still watch it, keeping these things in mind.

Performances:

Rajini did play both his 2 different dimensions well!. He is stylish & dominant on screen, but not clearly at his best. But he still managed to pull of the roles with good Energy. His Typical Mannerisms or style hasn`t been on display as the director choose to limit it largely to songs. Anushka is heavy on make-up and is average in acting. Sonakshi did good and is adequate. Jagapathi is fine.

Technical Departments:

Music: AR Rahman`s Tunes & Sound Track are a disappointment although the latter is a bit better. Nevertheless, Songs have been shot with Grandeur & Lavishness.

Cinematography: Adequate.

Editing: 174 Minutes is tad too long and little bit boring at times. There are quite a lot of unnecessary scenes which should be immediately chopped off.

Box-office Verdict:

The film was bought and sold at highest prices for a Dubbed film. It is highly unlikely to be a safe venture.
