`Gautamiputra Satakarni` is an Interesting Historical War Drama.
Story :
The Saga of Satavahana Emperor Satakarni who unified all Indian Kingdoms to fulfill his dream of a Unified Bharatha Khandam.
Performances:
Balakrishna is nothing but extraordinary. He handled Powerful Emotions & Dialogues with aplomb. He holds the entire film together and convincingly pulls off a difficult task despite his own limitations. Shriya hasn`t aged much and is good. Hema Malini plays important role and adds lot of class!. Supporting cast are adequate.
Technical Departments:
Music: Although the Tunes are ordinary and Songs are passable on-screen. BGM is Great and is a Major Plus.
Cinematography: Good Job.
Editing : Adequate.
War Episodes: Obviously Over The top at times but have been shot fairly well enough to make them interesting. Good.
Analysis :
This is the most commercial film in the career of Director Krish. Every one are in for a surprise and it is interesting that Krish has achieved a fair balance between Story & Commercial appeal by embedding Balayya`s histrionics into Powerful scenes. The film has 3 war episodes and all of them serve the Commercial Purpose well. Krish has established Satakarni`s intentions and `One Kingdom` dream well but with quite a bit of Cinematic Liberty. The film has its share of flaws with songs acting as speed breakers and Killings getting repetitive. Nevertheless, what they have achieved in its 50 Crores Budget is nothing short of brilliant. It actually feels like a 100 Cr Big Budget Epic. GPSK commands a watch for the brilliant efforts and most importantly to celebrate our own Great History. Don`t miss the beginning!.
