ABO Review : S/o SatyaMurthy
By
OM
`S/o SatyaMurthy` (SOSM) is a Decent Family Entrainer but falls short of expectations.
Story :
Satyamurthy (Prakashraj) is a Business man who gives more importance to people than money. After his younger son (Allu Arjun) Viraj Anand`s engagement, Satyamurthy dies in an unfortunate accident leaving a lot of debt to the family. How the son manages to put his family back on track upholding the values his Father stood for is the rest.
Performances:
Allu Arjun managed to deliver a Matured and controlled Performance. He is stylish, emotional, dashing and did justice to his role. Upendra excelled in a serious and dominating role and is a big plus. Rajendra Prasad as a practical common-man did well too. Prakash Raj`s cameo is just Okay. Samantha, Nithya or Adah haven`t got much scope and are average. Ali, Rao Ramesh, Brahmanandam, Late MS Narayana, Sampath, Chaitanya, Kota and other supporting cast are more than adequate.
Technical Departments:
Music
: DSP has delivered an average to decent album. `Super Machi` and `Welcome to the party` are Good on screen with Regular stylish moves from Bunny. A couple of songs are kind of speed-breakers. Soundtrack is good.
Cinematography
: Good.
Editing
: The film should have been better edited, easily limiting length inside 150 minutes. Continuity is well and good though.
Stunts
: Decent and could have been better especially the 1st half one.
Analysis
:
SOSM is a Family Entertainer with Trivikram dealing with a `Vaitla` kind of story with in-house drama. The film advocates leading a dignified life putting Values over Money. Here, the story is al-right but Screen-play and narration haven`t been upto the mark. Both halves are average and watchable to large extent. It is the weak characterizations that have hampered the flick and a couple of unnecessary songs. As usually Trivikram has killed it again with his Trade mark dialogues which in the end saved the film making it a decent watch. It still appeals to Family audiences well and might be an average watch for Fans & Mass audiences. SOSM is equally emotional and entertaining although with not so good comedy like the earlier Trivikram flicks. Family sentiments seems to have worked for most parts of the film though. On the whole, it is an average to above watch and isn`t upto General expectations.
Highlights :
1. Viraj on Father.
2. Meeting Deva.
3. Climax.
Plus:
1. Dialogues.
2. Production Values.
3. Upendra.
4. Huge Casting.
Minus
1. Dragged Narration.
2. Average Music.
3. Weak Characterisations.
Rating: 3 / 5 ( Family Entertainer )
Box-office Verdict :
The film is receiving good early Openings and it is all going to depend on how well the Family Audiences receive and throng to theatres in large numbers. The Overall Commercial Prospects as things stand now seems to be Average as There`s some huge money riding on it. We hope it would exceed our expectations.
Bottom Line:
An exhibit on giving too much freedom to an in-form Star Director.
