ABO Review : 'Thalaivii'

‘Thalaivii` : A Worthy Cinematic Celebration of the Life of Jaya Amma!.

Story :

The film is based on the life of Legendary actor-turned-politician Jayalalithaa (Kangana Ranaut) and also on her relationship with the legendary M. G. Ramachandran (Arvind Swami) and her rise to power echelons as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Performances:

Kangana Ranaut lives in the role of Jaya Amma and is convincingly good both as a charming actress and also as a political leader with yet another award worthy performance. Arvind Swamy is effortlessly class act and his chemistry worked well with Kangana. Samuthirakani has a very important role letting his eyes do a lot of talking for the most part. Nassar, Bhagyashree, Madhoo, Thambi Ramaiah and Poorna have been a good support act.

Technical Departments:

Music: Ordinary. Background score is better.

Cinematography: Decent.

Editing: Good.

Analysis :

Thalaivii explores the Life of Jaya Amma in a well balanced, emotionally engrossing manner. The film has most of its run time dedicated to her political life and it is executed well. The 1st half of the film is decent and the 2nd half is good, ending on a high note with multiple whistle worthy dialogues and exciting moments. On the flip side a chartbuster or two would have taken the film to next level. Nevertheless, this is one film which is not to be missed for its Award Worthy Performances and Engaging Narration with hardly any boring moments. Go watch it!.
