ABO Review : 'Akhil'
By
OM
VV Vinayak`s`Akhil` is a Below Average Affair, Let Down by Weak Screen-play.
Story :
An aimless Wanderer and Street Fighter, Akhil Falls for Divya (Sayyesha). He Manages to spoil her marriage plans and she moves to Europe after the Disappointment. Akhil follows her to there too and starts to impress her. A Medico, Divya helps her African Friend which ends up messing up her life. She gets Kidnapped by a Mafia Leader who are in search of the whereabouts of `JUA`. What is JUA and How Akhil saves her and the World (Yes!!!) forms the rest.
Performances:
Akhil Danced like a dream like a Professional and it is nothing short of exceptional being just a Debutant. He is considerably poor in Emoting and Dialogue Delivery and can only get better from here. Sayyesha had a confident Debut and is at ease with Akhil in Dance numbers. She is a surprisingly better Actor than her Male Lead!. Mahesh Manjrekar is Average. Vennela Kishore, Rajendra Prasad, Brahmanandam is Adequate. Saptagiri is fine. Foreign Actors who Played Main Villains are Adequate too.
Technical Departments:
Music
: Anoop and Thaman (1)`s tunes are a plus and Background Score by Mani Sharma is Good.
Cinematography
: Good.
Editing
: Adequate.
Action/Stunts
: Fairly Decent but over the top at times.
CG& VFX : Could have been better.
Analysis
:
The 1st half of the flick is average and some how manages to hold onto the audience interest with promise of some thing special ahead, excellent Dance numbers and passable romance. 2nd Half is a big let down with Poor screen-play and Pathetic Comedy. A strictly below average for regular cine-goers, `Akhil` might appeal only to Akkineni fans who will be eager to watch Akhil on Silver Screen. It is the Script which is to be blamed here being weak both in story and narration. It is very hard to impress with a Socio-Fantasy subject and the star Director VV Vinayak lacked that strong vision to do it here.
Highlights :
1. Akhil`s Dances.
Plus:
1. Songs & BGM.
Minus
1. Weak Story and Narration.
2. Lack of Strong Emotional Connect.
Rating: 2.5 / 5
Box-office Verdict :
The film has to cash in on as much as it can in this Weekend. VV Vinayak has a Strong Reputation at the Box-office. But this looks unlikely to live up to that and might end up as a Failure.
Bottom Line :
Over Ambitions gone awry.
Ratings :
1 - Stay Away
2 - Poor
2.5 - So-So
3 - Watchable
3.5 - Good
4 - Very Good
4.5 - Outstanding
5 - Out of this World
